The colder weather means it's time for the annual Bridge City Chili Cook-Off at the end of this month as the Texarkana Homeless Coalition (TXKHC) also conducts its annual Point-In-Time (PIT) homeless population observational count. the count will take place on Thursday, January 28. at 902 W. 12th Street, Texarkana, Texas. Then the Chili Cook-Off is the next day January 29.
The Texarkana Homeless Coalition is launching Operation Responsible Compassion. This public community campaign is intended to help educate the public about options to ensure their compassion truly provides sustainable-help to those in need.

Some local volunteers spent a freezing Friday night in cardboard boxes to raise awareness to the plight of the homeless population in Texarkana and to raise much needed funds for the "Bridge City Project".
