Sammy Hagar has unveiled a new experimental short movie called Space Between: The Film.

The 36-minute piece is a companion to the Space Between concept album, which was released by Hagar and the Circle earlier this year.

The film follows a character, John, as he descends into a world of greed, gambling and drugs. After hitting rock bottom, he faces a choice: continue his sinful, gluttonous ways or defeat his demons and work toward a more enlightened life.

Songs from Space Between weave in and out of the piece, acting as a musical backbone that threads the plot together. Footage of Hagar and his Circle bandmates -- including bassist Michael Anthony, drummer Jason Bonham and guitarist Vic Johnson -- is also used throughout the film. The project was directed and edited by ZZ Satriani, the son of Hagar's Chickenfoot bandmate Joe Satriani.

"I gave [Satriani] a whole bunch of money and said, 'Go crazy!'" Hagar previously told Billboard. "The reason I like this movie is it gives the album more legs. It's not just a record, and when you see this movie, you're gonna go back and listen to the record and go 'oh!' It elevates your listening and viewing experience."

The Red Rocker admitted the film was “expensive and self-indulgent as hell,” but added that he loved creating material with depth. “I want to have something to say. Even if it's just purely how I feel about the world, I'd rather do that than just make up some silly shit. It's the first time I've ever tried to do something deep. It makes me look forward to playing every night, and I'm excited for the first time in a long, long time."

Hagar and the Circle will head out for tour dates in November. As for the film’s lead character, the Red Rocker said John’s story may continue on a future release.

“I think it would be exciting to find out what happens to a guy who has it all, loses it all, blows it, then comes back enlightened and starts over by trying to build it up again,” Hagar asserted when visualizing a second part to the project. “We can see what he does with his money and his energies and his abilities to do something better with a second chance."
