Petition Received by City Hall to Add Repeal of A&P Tax on November Ballot
It is being reported that 69 pages of signatures have been received by Texarkana Arkansas City Hall to place the repeal for the A&P tax of restaurant and hotel purchases on the November ballot.
This is a consumption tax, and almost every city our size and larger in the State of Arkansas has a tax like this in place. Without this tax it is believed the city of Texarkana Arkansas will suffer, and that this is all a political ploy from Mayor Smith and his supporters, partially due to the Mayors removal from the A&P Commission of which he was the chairperson. Without the additional income that this brings the city Texarkana, Arkansas would not be able to provide events on Broad Street or Sparks in the Park, and will not be able to support the many local non-profits in the community that depend on this income to survive.
More to come...
