El Paso, TX DA Is Covering Your Uber Ride Just in Time for Coldplay

If you're heading to the Coldplay concert this weekend at the Sun Bowl you are probably already trying to plan how you will be getting there, whether you’ll take your car and pay for parking or if you and your friends are going to split an Uber!

Well, if a risehare like Lyft or Uber is something you’re planning on doing then there’s good news because the City of El Paso has a brand new rideshare spot that they are hoping will help eleveate the congestion the day of the concert!

Now, if Uber is your rideshare of choice, even better news because every Friday afternoon, the offices of El Paso District Attorney, James Montoya, release a special code that allows Uber users a chance to get a $20 Uber voucher!

The El Paso District Attorney’s Office is making sure you think before you drink—with a little help from Uber. Every Friday evening at 5 p.m., locals can snag a $20 Uber voucher as part of the ongoing “Pick Your Ride” campaign, designed to reduce drunk driving across the city.

The campaign kicked off thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Texas Department of Transportation awarded in October 2024. Since then, the DA’s Office has been distributing 100 to 150 vouchers every weekend, encouraging residents to opt for a safe ride home instead of risking it behind the wheel.

Here’s How You Can Claim Your Uber voucher: 

A link to claim the vouchers is posted every Friday evening on the DA’s official website and social media pages. But don’t hit that “claim” button unless you actually plan on using it—because that’s where things get a little tricky. While all the vouchers are quickly claimed, less than 60% are used before they expire early Monday morning. That’s money left on the virtual table ya’ll!!

The DA’s Office is asking El Pasoans to be mindful and responsible: only claim a voucher if you're going to use it. That way, the campaign’s funding stretches further and helps protect more people in our community.
