Officially recognized as the Halloween Capital of Texas, the North Texas community goes all out with haunted attractions, ghost tours, pumpkin displays, live entertainment and hundreds of Halloween-themed events that turn the entire month of October into one big celebration!

This isn't just a weekend festival, either. For 31 days, Halloween takes over the city, making Denton one of Texas' most unique fall destinations.

Why Denton Is the Halloween Capital of Texas

Denton didn't earn the title by putting up a few jack-o'-lanterns.

In 2025, the Texas Legislature officially designated the city as the Halloween Capital of Texas, recognizing the city's month-long celebration that has grown into one of the biggest Halloween events in the state.

These days, Halloween isn't just another holiday in Denton- it's part of what the city is known for.

What Happens During Denton's 31 Days of Halloween?

The better question might be: what doesn't happen?!

Throughout October, Denton hosts more than 200 Halloween-themed events, including ghost tours, haunted attractions, costume contests, outdoor movies, live music, themed markets and family-friendly activities.

Downtown businesses join in with festive decorations, spooky storefronts and seasonal treats, making it feel like Halloween has completely taken over the city.
