Ever since I was a kid, I’ve had one major, non-negotiable obsession, pigs. I blame "Babe" and "Gordy". After watching those movies, I was absolutely determined that I would have a pet pig of my own one day. While that exact dream is still on my bucket list, I just found out that there is a woman over in Texas who is officially living my absolute best life.

Say Hello to My Pig Filled Life

My Pig Filled Life is located in Wills Point, Texas, just a 2.5-hour road trip straight down the interstate from Shreveport, this place is an absolute dream world. Founded by Melanie Moreau, this incredible mini pig rescue and sanctuary has become a safe haven for hundreds of rescued, surrendered, and abandoned mini pigs. They focus entirely on healing, proper medical care, and giving these sweet animals the safe, loving environment they deserve.

Belly Rubs & Muddy Snouts: How to Get Involved

Because running a sanctuary of this size is a massive undertaking, they heavily rely on community support to keep things moving. The best part? You can actually be a part of it.

Here is how you can help out (and live out your own childhood animal-lover dreams):

Become a Professional Belly Rubber: Yes, really. My Pig Filled Life welcomes volunteers to help socialize the pigs by giving them love, affection, and all the belly rubs they can handle. To get started, visitors just need to complete a quick tour and an orientation on pig behavior.

Sponsor a "Sponsor Hero": If you can’t bring a pig home with you (same here), you can sponsor a specific resident. Their "Sponsor Hero" program starts at just $20 a month, which directly covers essential costs like feed, cozy bedding, and medical care.

Thinking of Adopting? Do Your Homework First

If you actually are looking to expand your family, this is the place to start. Prospective pig parents are highly encouraged to visit the sanctuary first to learn the real-deal facts about owning a mini pig. They require specialized care and are a big commitment, boasting an average lifespan of 10 to 15-plus years. Seeing the daily, hands-on care required to keep these rescues happy and healthy is eye-opening.

Plan Your Visit

Want to make the drive and experience it for yourself? You do need to schedule ahead, but filling out their online visitor form is super easy.
