Good Stories: UAHT Students Fabricate Bike Rack For Hope Connexion
Three welding students from the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Secondary Career & Technical Education Center constructed and gifted a bicycle rack to the Hope Connexion Outreach Center.
Gavin Smith, Micah Hardee, and Wesley Almand created the bike rack during their MIG/TIG welding course at the UA Hope campus, from the initial concept to the final product. The students found the project beneficial, as it allowed them to enhance skills like project design, completion, and teamwork. Eddie Thomas, the UAHT Welding Instructor, commended the students for their exceptional work and dedication to following instructions to produce a high-quality product for Hope Connexion.
Adam Perry, the HCOC Board President, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting the importance of providing a safe parking space for visitors who rely on bicycles as their main mode of transportation. The bike racks will ensure that visitors can securely park and lock their bicycles while at the center, preventing them from being scattered around the premises.
The UAHT Secondary Career & Technical Education Center, situated on the UA Hope and Texarkana Campuses, offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credits at no cost.
