This Texarkana Teacher Named ‘Arkansas Regional Teacher of the Year’ Finalist
Here's some great news for our area. There is a Texarkana, Arkansas teacher who was just named the 2024 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Regional Finalist.
Her name is Kashandra Murphy and she is a 5th-grade literacy teacher at Harmony Leadership Academy.
She is one of 14 finalist in the whole state. She not only teaches in Texarkana Arkansas is also went to school in the TASD. She started at Carver Kindergarten then went on to College Hill Elementary, North Heights Junior High, and was named a 2002 Merit graduate from Arkansas High School (AHS).
Ms. Murphy has over 16 years of teaching experience and has taught pre-k and kindergarten. Plus 3rd and 5th grade literacy.
Dr. Becky Kesler, Superintendent of TASD said in a press release,
“We are thrilled that Ms. Murphy was named a 2024 Arkansas Teacher of the Year Finalist. She has established an academic structure that pushes students and enables them to reach their full potential. Ms. Murphy is an inspiration to her colleagues.”
Regional finalists receive a $1,000 cash reward provided by the Walton Family Foundation. We wish Ms Murphy all the best as she along with the other finalists will be recognized at the Governor's Mansion on Thursday, July 27 where they will be announcing the four state semi-finalists and the Arkansas Teacher of the Year.
