Program Supports Community Projects
The CDBG program is a federal initiative that provides funding to cities for projects that improve neighborhoods and support residents, particularly those in low to moderate-income areas. Funding can be used for a variety of projects, including home repairs, public facility improvements, economic development programs, and community services.
CDBG Administrator Megan Price said the program helps organizations address important needs within the community.
“The Community Development Block Grant is a great opportunity for our local organizations to receive much needed funds for the work they are doing,” Price said.
Past Projects Show Impact
Previous projects funded through the program include facility upgrades at Randy Sams Outreach Shelter, new playground equipment at Kidtopia in downtown Texarkana, and new bleachers at the Southwest Center through Texarkana Texas Parks and Recreation. The New Town Neighborhood Association also used funding to develop a community walking trail.
