
Mountain Men & Fur Trappers, Step Into the 1800s in Arkansas This March
Step into the past when the 42nd Annual Southwestern Regional Rendezvous returns to Prescott for a week of living history.
Hosted by the Nevada County Depot and Museum, the event will take place on Saturday, March 14th, Sunday, 15th, and Saturday, the 21st, at the historic Prairie D’Ane Battlefield in Arkansas. Visitors will be able to check out mountain-man encampments, watch historic demonstrations, browse traders and food vendors, and experience Early American life that is brought back to life.

Event Details and Admission For the Southwestern Regional Rendezvous
The event will be open from 10 AM to 4 PM each day. Admission is $5 for adults, and children 12 and under get in free. Parking is free. The battlefield is located at 2243 Highway 19 North in Prescott, and both food vendors and period merchandise will be available for purchase onsite.
What Is the History of a Rendezvous in Early American Life in Arkansas?
A rendezvous was a Colonial and Early American trade gathering event where companies and fur trappers met to buy and sell beaver and otter pelts. These events also provided a social time and entertainment for trappers who often spent long periods in isolation.

Today, the Southwestern Regional Rendezvous rotates annually among member states like New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas as they celebrate this unique era in American history. Visitors can see authentic crafts, learn pioneer skills, and get a hands-on look at what daily life was really like on the frontier.
