You know the holiday season is here when you see that the Salvation Army is kicking off its annual Red Kettle Campaign in Texarkana.

Did you know that the money raised by the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign not only helps people in our area around Christmas but throughout the entire year? The money helps their services like food assistance programs, shelter for people experiencing homelessness, emergency financial assistance, youth programs, and disaster response too.

Captain Juan Gomez of The Salvation Army in Texarkana said in a press release,

From its humble origins in 1891 when a Salvation Army Captain used a crab pot to collect funds in San Francisco, the Red Kettle Campaign has grown to become one of the most recognized charitable initiatives worldwide. The funds raised in the Red Kettle will serve as a lifeline in our community, offering essential assistance, including nourishment, shelter and vital social services to people during their greatest need.

Look for Red Kettles to be located outside area stores and local businesses, Monday through Saturday, between now (early November) and Christmas Eve. Last year, The Salvation Army raised an amazing $94,105.30. Their goal this year is to raise $120,000 this season to support our community.
