Is This The Next SnowMageddon? Remembering February 2021
Remember February 15, 2021? We dubbed it Snowmageddon, could that be what's coming this weekend?
The weekend forecast is cold with a possibility of a wintery mix Sunday night and again Monday, but if you've been here in Texarkana a while then you should remember 3 years ago when on February 15, 2021, we got the snowstorm here in Texarkana like we hadn't seen in decades. When I got to the radio station that morning, which was amazing all by itself, it was 1 degree.
Stupid Cold
I snapped the picture below with my phone as soon as I got to work, simply because I remembered that my dash had the outside temp on it. We like to call it "Stupid-Cold," and that it was. The snow began falling on February 15 and by the next day we had 18-22" officially of the fluffy white stuff and we bottomed out at -1F. If you live in Minnesota that's nothing, but down here, that's SnowMageddon.
Out in front of the radio stations on Arkansas Blvd... where is everyone?
This next pic I took after being at work for about an hour, the snow was still coming down very heavy and already looked like my truck had been parked there most of the night.
On the way home from work I videoed a few things with my phone, this one made me chuckle.
Trying to get back home after that first day of work of SnowMageddon 2021 was a challenge.
Knock on wood, no pipes broke at my house during this event. The snow stuck around most of the week and did some severe damage to plants and shrubs, but I consider myself very lucky. It was by far the most snow I've ever experienced growing up in Texas.
Here are a few more pics from Day 1 of SnowMageddon 2021:
