The University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Workforce & Community Education Department is offering a hands-on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) 1 course this summer for anyone interested in learning the basics of industrial automation systems.

The four-day course will be held Tuesday, July 21- Friday, 24, from 8 AM to 4:30 PM each day. Students will train with industry-standard Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix equipment and Studio 5000 software, which are commonly used in advanced manufacturing settings.

Students will gain real-world experience working directly with PLC training systems and learn the fundamentals of operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting automated industrial systems.

Course Covers PLC Basics and Troubleshooting

The training will include guided instruction and hands-on exercises covering PLC fundamentals, programming basics, discrete and analog inputs and outputs, industrial networking, and maintenance procedures.

They will also learn how to use tools such as QuickWatch, Cross-Referencing, and forcing functions while working with Studio 5000 and RSLinx software.

Designed for Industrial and Manufacturing Workers

The course with the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana is designed for maintenance technicians, industrial electricians, manufacturing operators moving into technical roles, new automation technicians, and employers wanting to strengthen workforce skills.

Tuition for the course is $1,300, and employers may qualify for tuition reimbursement assistance through the Office of Skills Development.
