
Arkansas State Police Arrest Eureka Springs City Councilman
A Eureka Springs city councilman has been arrested following two separate investigations by the Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division.
Authorities say Harold Frederick Meyer, 76, was taken into custody on Friday, March 13, 2026. He is accused of first-degree criminal mischief and aggravated assault in connection with two incidents reported last summer.
First Incident at City Park
According to Arkansas State Police investigators, the first case dates back to June 3, 2025, when the Eureka Springs Police Department requested assistance from state police.
Meyer is accused of damaging personal property during a community event at a city park. Authorities say the investigation resulted in a felony charge of first-degree criminal mischief.
Second Investigation Involves Altercation
A second request for assistance was made on July 14, 2025, after officers responded to a reported altercation between Councilman Meyer and a neighbor.

ASP Investigators say that the case led to an aggravated assault charge following a review of the incident.
Arrest and Release
Councilman Meyer was taken into custody by special agents, processed at the Carroll County Detention Center, and later released on his own recognizance.
The case remains under investigation, and the charges have not been proven in court.
