Downtown LIVE! Returns to Texarkana Friday with Art, Shopping, and Historic Tours

Downtown LIVE! is bringing another great evening of art, shopping, and entertainment in historic downtown Texarkana on Friday, March 13, from 6 AM to 9 PM.

The quarterly event invites you to explore downtown Texarkana after hours, with local businesses staying open later, special event-only deals, and plenty to see and do throughout the district.

Several downtown businesses will be open for the evening, including Hart’s on Broad, which will offer 25% off all merchandise along with free refreshments for visitors.

Crystal Moon will be welcoming guests inside for a special look at the shop’s new showroom.

Rare Tours of Historic Downtown Buildings in Texarkana

One of the highlights of this month’s Downtown LIVE! will allow you to tour several historic properties in downtown Texarkana.

Visitors will be able to step inside The Texarkanan, formerly the Texarkana National Bank building, and the newly opened Kilwins, located in the historic space that once housed Alexander’s Jewelers on Broad Street.

You will also be able to visit the Museum of Regional History, located in the oldest surviving building in downtown Texarkana.

Ana Willis, director of the Texarkana Museums System, said in a press release,

Downtown Live is a celebration of what makes Texarkana special. We are proud to open the museum and invite visitors to experience the rich history that anchors our downtown and connects us to one another.

 

Food, Music, and Local Artists at Downtown Live

While you’re downtown, you can make a full night of it by enjoying the locally owned restaurants, bars, or nightclubs. Cafe Lucille will host The Moss Brothers, who will perform live at the event.

Another wonderful feature of Downtown LIVE! is that you can watch local artists at work as they create pieces throughout the evening. Artist Erica Zofcin as she shares her work along with others with visitors during the event.

Downtown LIVE! is organized by Main Street Texarkana, which is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting economic development through historic preservation, adaptive reuse, education, and community involvement.
