Texarkana Pinwheel Events Mark Child Abuse Prevention Month
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and two Texarkana organizations are inviting the community to come together in support of local children and families.
CASA for Children (CASA) and the Texarkana Children’s Advocacy Center (TCAC) will host a pair of public events outside the Bi-State Justice Center to raise awareness and show unity in the fight against child abuse.
Pinwheels for Prevention: April 1
The first event is set for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11 AM, where more than 1,700 pinwheels will be planted. Each pinwheel represents a child or supportive family member who received services from CASA and TCAC in 2025. The pinwheel serves as the national symbol of child abuse prevention, reminding the community that every child deserves a safe and happy childhood.
Proclamation Ceremony: April 2
A second event will take place Thursday, April 2, 2026, at 10 AM. During this ceremony, the mayors of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Texarkana, Texas, will officially proclaim April as Child Abuse Prevention Month, reinforcing a shared commitment to protecting children and supporting those impacted by abuse.
Community members are encouraged to wear blue to both events as a sign of support.
