Primary Threats For East/Southeast Texas
A few tornadoes are possible in the watch area as a long line of storms associated with a cold front pushes into the area. At 4:05, a Tornado Warning was issued for Gregg County due to rotation signatures indicated over the city of Longview.
Scattered damaging winds are also likely, with isolated significant gusts of up to 75 mph possible. Some thunderstorms could produce hail with isolated large hail events of up to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
The tornado watch area is approximately along and 65 statute miles east and west of a line from 40 miles north-northeast of Longview, Texas, to 15 miles south-southwest of Angleton, Texas. A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
Heavy downpours are also possible as the line of these storms moves through east and southeast Texas. Isolated amounts of over 2 inches of rain are possible.
