It’s a Special Day – Happy Birthday to Texarkana’s Classic Rock Station Eagle 106.3
Happy Birthday to 106.3 The Eagle. Texarkana's Classic Rock station has been rockin' the area for 22 years today.
The Eagle signed on the air on this day back in 1995. All of us at The Eagle know it wouldn't be possible to be around this long without you, our listeners. So, thank you!
So what was going on back in 1995? We thought it would be fun to take a look back on that year and see what the cost of living was and what some of the big events were of that year.
According to The People History website:
Cost of a gallon of Gas $1.09
US Postage Stamp 32 cents
Average cost of new car $15,500
Ground Coffee per Ib $4.07
Loaf of Bread $1.15
Dozen Eggs 87 cents
Some of the big news stories from 1995 include:
Grateful Dead announced their break up.
Toy Story is released and is the first fully computer-generated film and we loved it.
Sadly, the Oklahoma City bombing of a Federal Building killed 168 people and injured more than 680 people.
Windows 95 is released.
DVD format is introduced.
A new way of shopping was introduced with eBay.
O.J. Simpson is found innocent of murder.
Something that we love to do at the Eagle is give our listeners a chance to win stuff.
Be sure to get social with us an enter to win tickets to see Journey at CenturyLink Center in Bossier City July 9.
