Fan Expo Dallas 2021 Wrap – Masked-Up Mayhem
Apparently, there are a ton of Comic-Convention-type folks in North Texas that have missed those events since the pandemic began. Well, they're back, the conventions and the folks.
Donna and I went to Fan Expo in Dallas a couple of weekends ago, it's been a while since we have been to a major convention like this and all I can say is, WOW, what a turnout.
The Mask Mandates were in place in Dallas County for this event as well as any other event in the Dallas area cause, that's what they do in Big D these days, ignore the laws of the State of Texas. Probably not a bad thing overall with that many people in a confined area, it's the whole mandate thing that bothers me. But I digress...
Fan Autograph Booths
The fan autograph area had some good stars this year, there were a few that dropped out for various reasons, COVID being one, but usually, they say "other commitments" as a catchall.
Celebrity faces you might recognize to the right, anime voiceover artists to the left, You'll notice the lines were strong on both sides (below).
Really, huge turnout.
Cosplayers
This guys hand-made dragon costume (above), was amazing. leather scales all sewn together, it must have weighed a ton.
You can always tell it's a Pirate Movie when it's rated Arrrrrrrr...
I don't know what it is, but great job.
Deadpool, always the funny guy.
Again, not sure what it is, but I love it.
When cosplayers who are not there together interact and do poses with each other, that's when it gets fun.
Mando...
The closest parking we could find was a good 5 block walk to the Convention Center. we were pooped by the time we got back to the vehicle.
Overall, it was a fun convention with a huge turnout, the masks were a pain, but oh well, hopefully, we will be way past the mask mandates next year. Good job Fan Expo 2021, we'll see you next year.
