Texarkana and the surrounding area are in for the coldest temperatures this winter and a chance of some snow as well.

The forecasters at the Shreveport TVststions have predicted that we will have a huge cold snap in the area. Temperatures will dip into the teens this weekend. The really cold weather will begin on Thursday night with temperatures dipping into the upper 20's.

Friday's forecast is for mostly cloudy skies with high temps near 40 which for February in this area is not too unusual. But this is the start of a seven day run of low temperatures below freezing.

The forecast for the weekend is calling for some clouds but it will only be 34 for the high on Saturday with Sunday high temperatures below freezing at 29. For Monday and Tuesday, there is a 40 percent chance of snow on Monday and an 80 percent chance of some snow and some wintry mix on Tuesday, the high on Monday will only be 30 and a little warmer on Tuesday with highs in the upper 30's.

The nighttime lows will not get above freezing until the end of next week. Keep this in mind with this col snap means that the wind chill will be in the single digits so make sure you have the three P's covered.
