The ducks are racing again! The Friends of the Foundation of CHRISTUS St. Michael Foundation will present The Great Texarkana Duck Race on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019, at Holiday Springs Water Park, 5501 Crossroads Parkway, Texarkana, Ark. The Duck Race will benefit cardiovascular services at the CHRISTUS St. Michael CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System.

As in previous years, rubber ducks “adopted” by community supporters will race for prizes including a 2019 Kia Rio LX. The ducks will splish and splash in the chilly waters of the “River Rapids” Lazy River at Holiday Springs Water Park, “racing” their way around the river at 10 a.m. with winners for five prizes announced after the race. The first duck to cross the finish line will win the top duck prize, the 2019 Kia Rio LX from Classic Kia. Second place prize is a $1,000 gift card from Dillard’s. Third place prize is a $1,000 gift certificate from Holiday Cleaners; fourth place prize is a $1,000 gift card from Classic Car Wash; fifth place prize is $500 gift card from Super 1 Foods.

Monkey Island and Splash Mountain Texarkana will be open from 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for family fun activities on race day.

Ducks can be adopted for a donation of $5 each, or you can adopt five ducks and receive a sixth duck free for a donation of $25. Adoptions will be available online at www.christusstmichaelfoundation.org starting now until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, or by calling Duck Central at (903) 614-7223 until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16. Duck adoption papers can be obtained at Duck Central, CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, 2600 St. Michael Drive, Texarkana, Texas.

Admission into the Duck Race at Holiday Springs Water Park will be free with the adoption of one duck ($5 per person) from 9 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. One minor (per duck adopted) will be admitted to the event when accompanied by an adult who adopted a duck. All persons must exit the park by 10:45 a.m. Only 3,000 will be admitted, first come, first serve basis.

According to the Press Release, proceeds from previous Duck Races have helped to build the Pediatric Unit and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of CHRISTUS St. Michael, benefited area cancer patients, purchased a patient transport van, and more. This year’s race, benefiting cardiovascular services, will have a huge impact on heart health care for the Texarkana, Atlanta and Cass County regions.
