CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System will award health and wellness grants totaling $30,000 to 24 area Texas schools at a luncheon on Tuesday, June 26 at CHRISTUS St. Michael North Conference Center located at 2600 St. Michael Drive in Texarkana, Texas.

According to a press release, schools receiving grants have participated in the free Mobile Pediatric Asthma Program for school-aged children during the 2017-2018 school term from Sept. 1, 2017 through May 30, 2018.

Areas schools receiving grants include: Bloomburg, Clarksville, Malta, McLeod, Mt. Vernon, Simms, Hooks, Maud, Linden-Kildare, Texarkana, Redwater, Red Lick, Queen City, Avery, Atlanta, Liberty-Eylau, Hughes Springs, New Boston, Daingerfield, Pleasant Grove, DeKalb, Jefferson, Pittsburg and Hubbard.

Provided by CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System in conjunction with Genesis PrimeCare, the Mobile Pediatric Asthma Program, only one of two in the state of Texas, offers asthma screenings and evaluations at no charge to participants. In addition to asthma screenings, the CHRISTUS St. Michael Mobile Asthma Program provides services such as breathing tests, personal asthma management plans, parent and child education as well as follow-up care.
