Former Texarkana, Texas Mayor James Bramlett started it 19 years ago and it's still going strong, the Bramlett Beans & Cornbread luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Southwest Community Center.

Big Jakes BBQ and Texarkana Independent School District will be taking care of the beans and cornbread this year, drinks provided by Coca Cola, then coffee and dessert brought to you by Starbucks.

The cost of lunch is $5 per person or six non-perishable food items. Items would include: Canned goods, packaged shelf-stable items, necessities and assorted dry goods.

A silent auction will be held and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Christmas Basket program, a volunteer effort by the Cities of Texarkana, Texas and Texarkana, Arkansas and Texarkana Water Utilities that provides holiday food for families in need that reside in the Texarkana area.

The Southwest Center is located at 3222 West 7th St. in Texarkana, TX.
