Best Swimming Holes for Summer Fun in Arkansas
The official start to the summer season begins this Memorial holiday weekend. As more and more state parks and recreational areas continue to lift their restrictions many Americans are ready for some fresh air and some outdoor family fun.
The Natural State, Arkansas is well known for some of the best swimming holes around. Reminding all of us of our childhood like swinging off a tree into the water or jumping off some bluff. Now that's one way to ease the burden of the Coronavirus blues. Just make sure to check for any guidelines or restrictions that may still be in place.
The Ozark National Forest of northwest Arkansas is well known for its untimely beauty and for starters, the White River runs through Arkansas into Missouri and boasts a great swimming hole to cool off on a hot day.
This could be Arkansas' hidden gem, not a lot of people know about this lake unless you live in the northeast corner of the state near the beautiful Ouachita National Forest Lake Sylvia is located about 38 miles from Little Rock and this swimming hole is truly a thing of amazement.
There is nothing quite like dipping your toes in a mountainside waterfall in Arkansas, the place to do just that is Mountain View at the nearby Blanchard Springs Cavern.
Little Missouri Falls in Arkansas has been a favorite destination for Texarkanians to get away to for decades. Located in the Ouachita National Forest in Glenwood this has always been a great place to swim or wade in the cool refreshing waters and falls. The falls are always bigger after a big rain. For a weekend trip or week long vacation spot, you can't go wrong with Little Missouri Falls. You can bet this will be a popular destination this weekend.
About four years ago, I had the opportunity to discover Greers Ferry Lake near Heber Springs. The serene beauty of the wooded forest that surrounds this area with bluffs is breathtaking and the water was so refreshing in the heat of the summer
One of my favorite lakes in the state of Arkansas. Lake Ouachita located by nearby Hot Springs is the largest lake in Arkansas. The beauty of the Ouachita mountains surrounded by several islands where you can camp or just chill out for the day is incredible. Known for being one of the cleanest lakes in the country and yes, there is a swimming hole there known as Crystal Springs Beach. Being on Lake Ouachita gives the impression that I am on some distant island in another country. Lake Quachita is also well known as a diver's paradise.
Located in the Ozark Mountains of northwest Arkansas Kings River, it is connected to the Kings River Falls, which is a favorite for visitors from everywhere. Imagine jumping in this watering hole!
Arkansas is the Natural State for a reason and any trip to a swimming hole is well worth the short time it takes to visit.
