The B-17 Bomber "Sentimental Journey" is on display at the Texarkana Airport until Thursday October 9. Not only can the folks get up close and tour the plane, but if you want, YOU CAN FLY IN IT!

This is an awesome chance to see, touch, photograph, and even FLY in a WWII B-17 bomber. This plane, "Sentimenal Journey", was also the star of the 1990 Hollywood  film, "Memphis Belle".

The plane was flown into Texarkana Regional Airport on Monday by a volunteer flight crew out of the plane's base in Arizona. The crew is on-hand at the aircraft to share the history of the plane and the role of the bombers in WWII.

The majority of the B-17’s were based in Europe. 4,735 were lost in combat missions, over Europe and the Pacific. This particular plane stayed closer to home and never saw any combat action. Which is why it is in such immaculate condition.

The public is welcome to walk around and view the aircraft for free. A $5 donation to tour the inside of the aircraft, and flights are available. For more information or to schedule a flight call (602) 448-9414.

(Bring some ear protection and know it is a noisy and bumpy ride in an awesome piece of U.S. Military History...and you will love every second of it).
