Arkansas Teachers, Great News! You Might Be Getting a Big Pay Raise
Hey, Arkansas teachers there just might be some great news heading your way...a big pay raise.
We all know that teaching is one of the most important jobs. Teachers educate, influence and inspire every child in every generation. Unfortunately, their pay doesn't reflect all that they do.
Arkansas teachers right now are some of the lowest paid in the country but there is a bill that Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders talked about on her rebuttal to President Biden's State of the Union speech on Tuesday night.
She said that the plan she would unveil would give Arkansas Teachers a pay raise that would make them one of the highest paid in the country.
The plan has been unveiled and according to AP News, it's a great one!
Sanders' proposal calls for raising starting teacher salaries in the state from $36,000 a year to $50,000. The move follows calls by lawmakers from both parties to raise the starting pay, which is one of the lowest in the country.
That is a 39% pay increase. That's great news for the state of Arkansas and for our teachers.
You can hear Governor Sanders announce the big education overhaul below. If you keep listening to the video she also tells the story of going with President Trump when she was his press secretary on a secret mission to Iraq to see troops on Christmas Day. I have never heard the story and it will give you goose bumps as it did me.
