We Took Andy Black Shopping for His Top 5 Graphic Novels at Forbidden Planet
It's no secret that Andy Black is a big fan of comics, and during a recent visit to New York City, we took the singer-songwriter shopping at the acclaimed Forbidden Planet to pick out his top five graphic novels.
You'll have to check out the video above if you want to find out his faves and hear the stories behind why.
Today (April 12) marks the release of Black's latest solo endeavor, The Ghost Of Ohio, which serves as a soundtrack to its accompanying graphic novel. The novel tells the tale of someone who died young whose spirit then inhabits an area for a hundred years, looking for ways to connect while feeling forgotten.
It pulls from the haunted history of Black’s hometown while exploring his childhood anxieties and obsessions to tell the character's story.
“I’ve always liked the idea of building worlds, making a character for myself, in very heightened and stylized dimensions I could live in,” he says. “It’s about expressing myself creatively, while making something that didn’t exist before.”
The album debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Rock Album Chart. You can check it out for yourself here. Black is currently on tour in support of the new record and you can see all upcoming dates below.
