Texas A&M University-Texarkana accepted a $100,000 donation from the Texas Pioneer Society at a Press Conference in University Center Wednesday morning.

The gift was presented to the university by Fred Markham, President of the Texas Pioneer Foundation, and will go to the Texas A&M University-Texarkana Foundation Endowed Scholarship Fund. By making the donation to the Foundation’s scholarship fund the contribution will be matched by the foundation’s Board of Directors, who last month announced the “Double Your Impact” scholarship campaign. Under the “Double Your Impact” initiative the members of the foundation board personally pledged to match contributions to the endowed scholarship dollar for dollar up to a total of $1 million.

“Texas A&M University-Texarkana continues to be blessed by the support we receive from our community partners,” said President Dr. Emily Cutrer.” “The Texas Pioneer Foundation has a long history of contributing to A&M-Texarkana and their support has made a difference in the lives of countless students.” Today we are doubly blessed, as this gift will be matched by our Foundation’s Board of Directors.”

The Texas Pioneer Foundation is a private, independent foundation that supports academic excellence by funding innovative educational programs that are sustainable, able to build capacity, and have measurable results. The Pioneer Foundation’s mission is to provide financial support for programs that will improve the quality and results of education for all Texas students.
