A&M-Texarkana presents lecture “Does Technology Destroy Jobs”
Dr. Richard Parsons will present “Does Technology Destroy Jobs” for the Program for Learning and Community Engagement (PLACE) on Wednesday, March 21, 1:30-2:45 PM in UC 210, at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, 7101 University Avenue, Texarkana, TX.
According to a press release, Dr. Parsons’ PLACE lecture on the impact of technology on jobs will ask the question “Will a Robot take your Job?” It will discuss the historical experience of job elimination and analyze the recent changes in the US job market, and the economics of what is happening now and what to expect in the future. The lecture will conclude with discussing the expected areas of job growth.
For many years, Dr. Parsons was a senior financial executive with M&M/Mars in Chicago, Houston, and New Jersey. He now teaches economics and finance at Texas A&M-Texarkana. He has published a number of papers in the area of labor and employment.
PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. PLACE chooses an annual theme around which to organize a lecture series and other activities that provide focal points for learning and discussion. This year’s theme is “science and technology.”
