Texas A&M University-Texarkana is offering two courses this spring through the Office of Extended Education and Community Development beginning March 19.

Electronic Health Records Management - This course runs from March 19 - June 21 and is designed to prepare students to understand and use electronic records in a medical practice. The course reviews the implementation and management of electronic health information using common electronic data interchange systems and maintaining the medical, legal, accreditation and regulatory requirements of the electronic health record. The cost is $1,999 and includes textbooks, and is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6PM -9:30PM on the Texas A&M-Texarkana campus located at 7101 University Avenue.  http://www.tamut.edu/eecd/ehrm.html

Medical Billing and Coding - This course runs from March 19 - June 11 and delivers the skills students need to solve insurance billing and coding problems. It details proper assignment of codes and the process to file claims for reimbursement. With the transition to ICD-10, effective as of October 1, 2015, this course will also provide training in ICD-10- CM. The cost is $1,899 and includes textbooks, and is offered Mondays and Wednesdays, 6PM - 9:30PM on the Texas A&M-Texarkana campus located at 7101 University Avenue. http://www.tamut.edu/eecd/medical-billing.html

According to a press release, Shelley Caraway, the Executive Director of Extended Education and Community Development, says “We have had lots of interest in work-from-home allied health opportunities and have added these additional courses to meet demand.”

Texas A&M University-Texarkana supports our military families.  Spouses of active duty military personnel can now use Career Advancement Accounts (MyCAA) to pay for more than 80 career training and educational programs at TAMU Texarkana, including these two courses. MyCAA, funded through the Department of Defense, provides up to $4000 in funding for those who qualify.
