A Bottle of Water Once Cost Ozzy Osbourne $80,000
How far can a musician go towards helping a fan during a concert? That’s the question posed by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Zakk Wylde as he reflects on the situation involving Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe.
In a new interview, Wylde recalled how an attempt by Osbourne to help a fan wound up costing him dearly. “I remember Ozzy, at an Ozzfest show in Phoenix, some bonehead lady has like a one-year-old there,” he told Noisecreep. “Oz sees her, feels bad for the kid because Oz is a good guy, and tosses a bottle of water down. It hits the kid. Bam! $80,000 lawsuit.”
Blythe is currently in jail in the Czech Republic for alleged manslaughter stemming from a 2010 concert when he pushed a fan off the stage. The fan died a month later.
Wylde expressed his support for Blythe, stating, “He’s a good dude. Nobody really knows what happened over there but Randy would never hurt a fan. A freako jumps on stage, he has every t-shirt, every record, he’s a fan – one of your guys. And you never hurt one of your guys. So it just sucks all the way around and I hope he gets out soon.”
