West Nile Claims Another Life in Our Area

The deadly West Nile Virus has taken a second life in our area.This time the victim was in Southwest Arkansas. The Hope Police Department in Hempstead County reports the death of Sgt. David “DJ” Johnson after battling the illness for almost 3 weeks.

Hope Police Chief J.R. Wilson called Johnson a “giant of a man” who touched the lives of many people.

Last month a Texarkana, Texas  woman also died from West Nile. The virus is spread from birds to mosquitoes to humans.
