Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia is hosting the third-annual Game Development Summer Camp July 24-27, 2017, for 10th - 12th grade students who think they might want to turn their favorite hobby into a career.
Nine Southern Arkansas University students – Gabrielle Davis, Lily Hesen, Clayton Hawthorne, Timothy Hawthorne, Lindsey Wood, Hannah Springer, Caleigh Moyer, Anna Dillard, and Jacob Steed, along with community members Sandra Wood and Julie Kardas – recently returned from a trip to Paris, France. The trip was led by Honors Director Ed Kardas.
Dr. Abdel Bachri, associate professor of physics, has been named interim dean of the College of Science & Engineering at Southern Arkansas University. He will serve in this capacity following the resignation of Dr. Scott McKay, who has accepted a similar position in South Dakota.
Southern Arkansas University Rodeo has enjoyed another outstanding year. The team will send seven members to the College National Finals in Casper, Wyo., in June. Michaela Caudle, Ashton Glascock, Hannah Springer, Jacie Sullivan, Cooper Lee, Britt Driggers and West Smith will represent the University at the competitive event, Rusty Hayes, rodeo coach, said.

Southern Arkansas University’s Spring Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for Friday, May 5, 2017 according to a recent press release. A total of 722 candidates for graduation will be recognized in four ceremonies at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
