Boy, that Disney really knows how to break the internet. In addition to news of Rian Johnson planning a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, so too is Disney finally pulling the trigger on a live-action Star Wars TV series for its upcoming streaming service. Plus – is Marvel headed away from Netflix?
Disney sent shockwaves through the world of streaming media earlier this week when it announced the company was ending its agreement with Netflix in 2019 in order to start its own competitive streaming movie and TV service. So some kind of “Dizflix” is coming, along with a similar ESPN service for sports due next year...
Sony knows that it’s summertime and in the summer traffic can be bad. So bad, even, that you might be running late to the movie theater and miss the first few minutes of Spider-Man: Homecoming this weekend. I personally have a rule that if I miss more than the first few minutes of a movie, I skip the whole thing for another showing. Samuel L. Jackson hasn’t appeared in the MCU since Avengers: Age of Ultron back in 2015 — which wasn’t all that long ago in real-time, but with Marvel releasing two new superhero films every year, it feels like it’s been an eternity since the last time we saw Nick Fury on the big screen. That’s just one of the Asgardian facts featured in the latest episode of You Think You Know Movies!
James Gunn recently said that we probably won’t get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 footage from Comic-Con anytime soon, but what about the trailer? Using logic and a little deductive reasoning, the answer seems pretty obvious. Marvel usually drops the first teaser trailer for a new film about six months ahead of its release date; the Guardians sequel hits theaters in May; Doctor Strange hits theaters in November. According to Kevin Feige, we’re probably right about this.
You didn’t think Marvel’s Netflix hero-for-hire would hit Comic-Con 2016 without some fresh footage, did you? Luke Cage is ready to rumble in the first official trailer for Marvel’s next Defender series, and Harlem won’t know what hit it.
