The Liberty-Eylau Leopards baseball team is under new leadership and they are excited and ready to go this season.

Head Coach Zach Fowler has been with the school for a couple of years, but he takes over the reigns of the program this season. Fowler says he wants this years team to focus on playing good baseball and wants all his teams to compete for championships.

The Leopards finished last year 6-13 and lost in a play-in game to Pittsburgh to end the season. L-E returns 6 starters from last year. On the mound, Fowler expects most of the pitching to rest on the shoulders of Rory Baugus, Garrett Brooks, and Cutter Webb.

He expects catcher Triston Brooks to be one of the team leaders throughout the upcoming season.

As for the district, Fowler says it's always tough, " PG and North Lamar are always very strong, Pittsburgh returns a lot of talent, Atlanta and Paris are well coached and always competitive."

This year, Fowler will be assisted by coaches, Ricky Rushing, Trey Norman, Robert Bennett, and Cody Engstrom.

Fowler has a message for Leopard Baseball fans, " I hope to see people come back out to the ballpark, as I expect this team will make the community proud."

Spring is upon us, and a new beginning at L-E with their new head coach.

Here's hoping for a great baseball season for the Liberty-Eylau Leopards.
