It's pretty much an accepted scientific fact that women live longer than men... about seven years more, on average.  Sorry guys.  Would you like to know why?  They don't really know for sure.  But here are the four main theories:

Biology:  It's simple really... women have more estrogen, men have more testosterone.  And estrogen makes blood vessels less vulnerable to damage.  That might be one of the reasons why guys have heart disease three times as much.

Men also get cancer more often... because of exposure to carcinogens, metabolism, and susceptibility... while women produce more stress-fighting antioxidants.

Guys Take More Risks:  Men are more likely to participate in violent sports, physically dangerous activities, and warfare.

Bad Choices:  According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 23% of men smoke, compared to 18% of women.  Men also more likely to drink more, to abuse drugs, and to drive too fast.

Women Socialize Better:  It's the classic cliché... women express their emotions and communicate their needs better.  That reduces stress, and actually boosts their health.

I still get the biggest kick out of this old Alan King bit... "SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE!!!"
