Man, those Journey guys keep getting into legal trouble! After the news last week about Neil Schon being served with a (seemingly dubious) 50 million dollar lawsuit brought by his new girlfriend’s estranged husband, now we hear that Journey drummer Deen Castronovo has agreed to complete 80 hours of community service as a result of an alleged assault case from about a month ago.

This stems from an incident last month when Castronovo was arrested after a neighbor called the police to report a man and woman fighting. The couple in question turned out to be Castrovono and an ex-girlfriend. After the incident, the Journey sticksman was charged with reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief, harassment and interfering with making a police report.

On Jan. 31, he pled not guilty to the four charges, all of which are misdemeanors, in Polk County Circuit Court. In addition to the community service, he is also required to attend anger management classes as part of a diversion agreement. That wheel in the sky, sure does keep on turning doesn’t it?!

Maybe President Obama is hoping to sing his way into being re-elected this November, or could he be preparing a career change. Last night the POTUS was joined on stage by an all-star band that included Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, B.B. King, Buddy Guy and Booker T. Jones. It took some talkin’ to, but the President agreed to front the group, but only for a few bars of ‘Sweet Home Chicago.’

The song was the conclusion of the ‘In Performance at the White House: Red, White and Blues’ special that will air on PBS next Monday (Feb. 27) at 8PM (cst). Earlier Mr. Obama spoke about the importance of the music.

Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks of the Allman Brothers Band were also on stage for the show closer. After waving off the microphone, the President finally took a hold of it and sang began the chorus of ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ before passing it back to King and exiting with his wife.

Chickenfoot has announced a 20-date 2012 U.S. tour in support of their recent album ‘III.’ The trek, dubbed the “Different Devil Tour 2012,” will kick off May 4 in Lake Tahoe, Nev. and wind up June 10 in Los Angeles, Calif.

With founding drummer Chad Smith still caught up on the Red Hot Chili Peppers tour, the lineup for these dates will feature Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and drummer Kenny Aronoff. The tour is named after the band’s current single ‘Different Devil‘ — reviewed here — and will be their first major-scale tour since the release of the new album.

If the reviews from the group’s brief November small club “Road Test” tour are any indication, fans can expect a healthy dose of songs from both Chickenfoot albums, but no tracks from any of the band member’s solo careers or Hagar and Anthony’s time together in Van Halen.

As Hagar explained in a recent interview, “We really do not want to dilute this band and become a Van Halen cover band, or become a Sammy Hagar cover band or a Joe Satriani cover band… The idea is that we are Chickenfoot, and we will stay that.”

Yes, we said 38KKK, something that is likely making any of our female readers involuntarily wince. And what’s even worse is Hershey paid for the discomfort — she’s shelled out more than $250,000 on 22 breast-augmentation surgeries.

But the road to eternal back pain wasn’t always easy — Texas law limits the amount of silicone that can be pumped into one person’s body, so she went home to Brazil (which has no such restrictions) and emerged with the rack of her dreams. She says her boobs are like her “children,” which we’re guessing means they require constant attention and perhaps the occasional rub.

Will Ferrell is in down in New Orleans filming the movie ‘Dogfight.’

Will led the annual Krewe of Bacchus parade Sunday. And, of course, he dressed up like a king. 

The Krewe of Bacchus is one of the superkrewes celebrations that take place during the run up to Madri Gras’  Fat Tuesday events. Bacchus, which is named for the Roman god of wine, was the first krewe to feature a celebrity king. Previous Bacchus monarchs include Drew Bress, Jackie Gleason, Bob Hope and Val Kilmer.

He didn’t show any skin like you would expect Will Ferrel to do at Mardi Gras, but that doesn’t mean he still won’t pull a Frank the Tank and strip down in exchange for cheap plastic beads on Fat Tuesday. Check out video and photos of Ferrell at King Bacchus below.

During the regular session Texarkana Water Utilities Executive Director Bill King will offer the board a presentation regarding water and sewer infrastructure. The board will also consider appointments to various boards and commissions.

There will also be an executive session. The public is invited to attend the open portion of tonight’s meeting.

The move to cut baseball, softball, and golf will save the college a half million dollars annually and mean the loss of coaching jobs . Also the board voted to eliminate the counseling department in the Enrollment Management Division.. Those cuts should save over $178,000 annually as well.

The Texarkana College Foundation Board President Dr. Andrew Curry reported that the foundations pledge of $1 million for the college to use as needed for the current year operating budget is available. Those funds will not be used until the time the chief financial officer of the college recommends to the President James Henry Russell that a need exists.

The 2012 Sonisphere Festival goes down in England this summer, and ending weeks of speculation as to whether or not Adam Lambert would be joining the band. Queen (featuring Adam Lambert on vocals) will headline one of the nights.

The three night festival kicks off Friday, July 6 at Knebworth Park with a “European exclusive” headlining performance by Kiss, who are preparing to release their 20th studio album ‘Monster’ sometime in 2012.

Queen featuring Lambert will headline the festivities the next night Saturday, July 7.  Oddly enough, Queen’s last show with Freddy Mercury was also at Knebworth Park, in 1986.

Faith No More will head up the third and final night on Sunday, July 8th.

Who doesn’t love a good buddy flick? Maybe it’s because even when we’re down on our luck, our current romance has gone to hell, and our list of old flames looks like it came from America’s Most Wanted, most of us can usually take some comfort in the company of a good friend. Our pals know how to pick us up, cheer us on, and keep us from popping one too many Ambien.

My appreciation for the camaraderie I share with my own amigos is one of the reasons I really looked forward to the release of “This Means War,” the newest film to join the buddy flick category. FDR (Chris Pine, “Star Trek” and “Unstoppable“) and Tuck (Tom Hardy, “Warrior” and “Inception“) play two spies who also happen to be best friends. They’ve survived plenty of perilous moments throughout the course of their friendship and their careers, from dodging bullets to hanging off the edge of skyscrapers. But when they both fall for Lauren (Academy Award-winner Reese Witherspoon, “Water for Elephants” and “Walk the Line”), their friendship may not survive.

The film starts out great, with the spies chasing down the bad guys via James Bond or Jason Bourne. FDR is suave, debonair and worldly-wise while Tuck is a sweet single dad with a license to kill. Both have awesome moves and their banter is lighthearted and fun. These guys take care of one another, on the job and off, and their relationship rings authentic throughout the film.

Unfortunately, when Lauren comes on the scene, FDR and Tuck lose all semblance of self. Suddenly, they become predictable Lotharios determined to get the girl, if for no other obvious reason than to stroke their egos. But as Lauren dates both men, egged on by Trish (Chelsea Handler), the obnoxious best friend who wants to live vicariously through her pal, the relationship between girlfriends muddies the waters in this movie.

For whatever reason, director McG (“Terminator Salvation”) can’t seem to decide if he wants this movie to be a buddy flick, a romantic comedy or a debate about women’s rights. Sure, there are films that successfully cross genres and even tackle serious topics with a comic twist. But that doesn’t happen here.

In the end, this was one critic who went to the cinema with great expectations, eager to enjoy a fun night at the movies. But sadly, I left feeling cheated because such a marvelous cast could have been put to better use if the story weren’t so predictable, the characters one-dimensional and the director so confused. I give “This Means War” three out of five stars.

This film is rated PG-13 for sexual content including references, some violence and action, and for language.

Have you ever found yourself disappointed by the choices you are given for President of the United States of America?  For me, it’s not just Presidential elections, but local elections too, (especially local elections…city council, county, TC Board, etc…). Have you ever heard of the “Write in vote”? 

I am honored to say I have received two write in votes for President, and one for County Judge.  I think some of you should get some votes too.

There are too many times that I find myself in, or close to a conversation on politics, and I hear some really smart ideas.  I think, “that drunk guy at the bar would make a better President than the guys running”.  So here’s what you need to know to choose a drunk over any idiot running for office.

A write in candidate is a person whose name is not on the ballot, but someone you can vote for anyway by simply writing in their name. In some cases there have even been “write in campaigns” have been organized to support a candidate who is not personally involved in running.

I checked up on the facts in this blog from wikipedia, (so it must be true).

Many states and municipalities allow for write-in votes in a partisan primary where no candidate is listed on the ballot to have the same functional effect as nominating petitions: for example, if there are no Reform Party members on the ballot for state general assembly and a candidate receives more than 200 write-in votes when the primary election is held (or the other number of signatures that were required for ballot access), the candidate will be placed on the ballot on that ballot line for the general election. In most places, this provision is in place for non-partisan elections as well.

Before you just dismiss this, you should know that most of the time write in candidates do not win…BUT… in 1960 John F. Kennedy won the Democratic Pennsylvania presidential primary with 183,073 write-ins, and he won the Democratic Massachusetts presidential primary with 91,607 write-ins.

In all reality, you and me may never be President, but when you look at local voter numbers, you very well could win public office one day… if you try… Just let me know, I might vote for you.

If you filed your taxes electronically, you may be wondering where your refund is. And, if you visited the IRS website’s “Where’s my refund?” page, you may have been given an error message that says the IRS has no information about your return. Recently, people who have visited the IRS site to use the “Where’s my refund?” tool have been getting the message that the IRS knows nothing about their already filed return. The IRS now has a message on its site that says it is only a glitch that should be fixed in a few days. The glitch was caused by a new e-filing system that was designed to prevent refund fraud. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first problem the “Where’s my refund?” tool has had. Early in tax season, it was telling taxpayers they would receive their checks a week earlier than they were actually receiving them. Despite the glitches, the tool is an important one. More and more, thieves are stealing identities and using software like Turbo Tax to get other people’s refunds. Not only is it important to stop the thieves, the IRS wants to make sure American’s are getting their refunds because nearly half of all taxpayers say they use the money to buy food and pay bills.

Lookout Point Lakeside Inn

My wife and I really enjoy getting away for a little R&R and one of our favorite places we like to go is Hot Springs, Arkansas. I really like to surprise my wife from time to time and one of the places I discovered while surfing the net one day was Lookout Point Lakeside Inn. This place was a absolutely beautiful and amazing from the moment you stepped into the inn and were greeted by the owners. We had a room with a balcony which overlooked a waterfall which flowed down to the lake, surrounded by a garden type atmosphere complete with a labyrinth. Sitting on the hammocks watching the sunset over the lake was breathtaking, they even have a small boat you can take out on the lake. We topped off our weekend with a scrumptious breakfast made to order from the owners of the inn. We found that this inn, projects peace, spirituality, tranquility, simply put a little bit of heaven on earth.

Another great place in Hot Springs was staying at Wildwood Bed & Breakfast inn, it was like stepping back in time. From the soft pastel colors and stain glass windows throughout, it made this inn seem very warm and romantic to say the least. I felt like Clark Gable waiting for Scarlett to show up in the foyer for a cup of tea. Each room in the inn is themed and we stayed in the Rudyard Kipling room that had a jungle safari theme. What I liked about this room it had a private entrance and a full size Jacuzzi. The owners also added that special touch with rose petals on the bed, lighted candles, and soft music playing. Expect a great breakfast, lots of sweet treats and a tour of the inn from the owners. Unforgettable!

Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas

One weekend we wound up at a place called the Omni Mandalay Hotel at Las Colinas. What a memorable weekend it turned out to be, this place was phenomenal from the huge king suite, high atop this high rise hotel with a balcony view of surrounding Dallas and the lake canal below. We pulled out all the stops including a gondola cruise that picked the two of us up and proceeded down the winding canal. We had dinner arranged from the hotel (Italian cuisine) complete with a bottle of wine and a red rose. And if that weren’t enough the driver of the gondola serenaded the two of us with O’ Sole Mio. I felt like I was one of those bachelors on the bachelor TV show. The boat ride took us under bridges that went through neighborhoods near the water, which gave off a vibe like the city of Venice. Perfect weekend!

My wife and I, enjoy the beauty and serenity that the state of Arkansas has to offer when it comes to romantic weekends together. A few years ago, I took her to the Lodge at Mount Magazine high atop the highest peak in Arkansas. When driving up the road to this lodge, for a minute you would think this is a ski lodge in Colorado and all you need is some snow. What a great place, the views at this lodge are simply breathtaking. There are many picnic areas and hiking trails throughout the park to take in the beauty of Arkansas. My favorite time of the year to go is Spring when the trees and flowers are blooming or Fall when the leaves are changing colors. Whenever you choose, just make sure you book early as this lodge stays booked on a regular basis. The Lodge also has cabins that you can stay in, when we went we stayed in a one bedroom cabin overlooking the valley. These cabins come with a hot tub on the porch with color changing lights to set the mood. Want a weekend to remember then  The Lodge at Mount Magazine is the place for you.

Petit Jean State Park

Another beautiful state park in Arkansas is not too far from Mount Magazine, Petit Jean State Park is one of the oldest state parks in the state. Rich in history, breathtaking views, lots of hiking trails, and a unbelievable waterfall that flows into a canyon below the mountain. You will be amazed at all the different caves, rock formations, and running creeks you will discover on your adventure. Just make sure your in excellent shape if you plan on walking the trail down to the waterfall. The rock cabin we stayed in was set back in time and hugged the cliffs overlooking the valley below. Great place to have a cookout on the outdoor grills and take in the view. We saw lots of eagles and hawks on our visit. If you want to be one with nature and see some of God’s artistic beauty, then Petit Jean Mountain is the place for you. Just be careful though, you might see the ghost of Petit Jean!

So, as you can see it doesn’t take much, but a little patience and time to turn a weekend into something special for you and your significant other. The memories you will make is priceless and will last a lifetime.

As if juggling wasn’t hard enough, have you heard of Combat Juggling? This sport is for experienced jugglers only!

Basically, a group of jugglers start juggling, then attempt to interfere with other jugglers. Some are saying it’s the nerdiest sport ever. I think not! It’s pretty cool to watch! Check out the video below.
