The city is releasing funds to help in the submittal process for Ace of Clubs House.

The City of Texarkana, Texas has approved the release of $11,331.00 of previously reserved maintenance funds to allow the Texarkana Museums System to finalize the submittal of a $50,276 grant proposal to the Texas Preservation Trust Fund Grant Program. The Ace of Clubs House was recently selected to move on to the second round in this application process provided they could secure the required matching funds of $25,276.

Through the Museum's GoFund Me Campaign, private donations, an art auction by the students at Morriss Elementary and a match of $1,000 of the auction proceeds by Offenhauser Company, the museums system was able to raise $13,945 in the past two months.  In a show of support for continued downtown revitalization, funds previously allocated by the City of Texarkana, Texas for maintenance of the Ace of Clubs House under the Hotel Occupancy Tax Funds will provide the remaining match.

If awarded, this $50,276 will provide a much needed boost for the Ace of Clubs House Capital Campaign Fund, which is seeking to raise $300,000 for repairs and improvements. This grant would allow the first three crucial stages relating to drainage and roof and gutter repairs to be completed.

"We are very excited that the Ace of Clubs House may get to join the Hotel Grim, Pecan Point Brewing and the Sears building in getting some much needed repairs thanks to our donors and the City of Texarkana, Texas," said Velvet Cool, Board President. "We still have a long way to go to reach our ultimate goal of $300,000, but we have a great deal of faith in our community's continued support."
Tax-deductible donations to the overall campaign fund may be made at any Texarkana Museum location or any BancorpSouth location by asking to donate to the Ace of Clubs House Restoration Fund. Online donations may be made at this website, and payments may be mailed to Ace of Clubs House Restoration Fund, 219 N State Line, Texarkana, Texas, 75501.
