City Championship Trophy on the Line in Texarkana

Once again this year, we will award the best high school football team in Texarkana.The award, called the "Kicker Cup" will go to the Texarkana high school football team that finishes the regular season with the best overall record.

Arkansas High, Liberty-Eylau, Pleasant Grove, and Texas High compete for the right to be called champions of Texarkana high school football for this year.

The huge traveling trophy has been awarded every year since 1996 so this year will be the 20th trophy presentation.

Texas High is the defending champion and has won it more times than any of the other schools. At the midway point of the regular season, it is a close battle this year between three of the teams. Liberty-Eylau, Pleasant Grove, and Texas High are currently tied for the top spot, each sporting a 4-1 record, with five regular season games to go.

If there is a tie at the end of the season, we look at tie-breakers to determine a winner. The first tie-breaker is head-to-head match ups, which in this case would not apply. The second determining factor would be better total points differential. We take the total points scored and subtract the total points allowed by each team to come up with best overall points.

When a winner is determined, we will present the head coach and his team with the trophy at their playoff pep rally.
