The Central Bowie County Water Supply Corporation says its customers should continue to boil the water they are consuming until told otherwise.

Disinfectant residuals are above the required minimum levels throughout the distribution system. The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality(TCEQ) directed the corporation to collect water samples for bacteriological testing. If all the samples pass, the "Notice to Boil Water" will be rescinded.

The test, however, takes 24 hours to complete. The corporation submitted samples for analysis at noon today (Thursday). If everything passes, the boil order, which has been in effect since last weekend, could be lifted by Friday afternoon.

The corporation is a member owned not-for-profit water supply corporation which was formed back in 1971 and currently serves more than 2,600 connections.
