The 2018 Beauty and the Badge All-Male Pageant was held this past Friday, April 13, at the Elks Lodge on Garland Avenue. A festive lively crowd showed up to support their favorite local law enforcement officers dressed up like beauty queens. Of course, you can take the beauty part out of the competition on most of these men, however, there were a few that made me do a double take as they played their part, all to well.

The crowd screamed and hollered as the contestants came out onto the dance floor and entertained the crowd with dance moves or whatever they could do to get votes from the judges on hand. Judges included former Mayor James Bramlett, Bowie County JP Nancy Talley, Assistant DA Bowie County, Kelly Crisp and Director of Marketing and Planning from Wadley, Shelby Brown.

James Zumwalt aka Lauren Order helped me keep the program moving with off the cuff remarks and a bit of humor. The crowd was also entertained by youngsters from the Texarkana Dance Academy by doing a performance skit of "Detention Day."  Sherry Powers of the Facebook group Lone Star Ag Boosters performed a parody of the Patsy Cline classic "She's Got You."

At the end of the competition the reigning 2017 Miss Beauty and the Badge Belle Starr aka David Parker gave a last minute speech to those vying for the crown.

Here's how the whole thing shook out in the end.

  • People's Choice Award - Bubbles Buttkowsky aka Lt. Jason Shores TAPD
  • 4th Place Jimmy Choo Best Shoe Award - Landon Loe aka Lola TAPD
  • 3rd Place Dolly Parton 'Best Rack Award - Romeo Cross aka Ginger Snap TAPD
  • 2nd Place Caitlyn Jenner "You Had me Fooled Award" - Jonathan Price aka Miss Dee Meanor TTPD
  • 1st Place 2018 Miss Beauty and the Badge - Camille Toe aka Dakota Easley TAPD
