Update: Illegal Deadly Drug Identified
The Bi-State Narcotics Task Force has identified an illegal drug circulating through Texarkana as the highly dangerous phenazepam.This is a synthetic drug developed in Russia to treat neurological disorders such as epilepsy, and mimics the effects of Xanax and is extremely dangerous. Side effects of taking Phenazepam are dizziness, loss of coordination, amnesia, severe anziety, seizures, convulsions and even death. These effects are worsened if combined with alcohol use.
This drug has been circulating the Texarkana area for weeks and resembles a Xanax pill. Individuals have been purchasing or receiving this drug from friends or associates on the street.
The Arkansas Attorney General has issued a ban on Phenazepam in the state due to the severe medical problems it causes. The Bi-State Narcotics Task Force will continue to actively follow up andy and all leads to determine the person or persons responsible for distributing these drugs in our area.
