The Texarkana Police Department Warn Of A Social Media Scam
The Texarkana Texas Police Department warns Texarkana residents to please not to play the recent social media games.
The games are ways for you to talk about your relationship or how it started, or a way for your friends to find out more about you. But these little games actually are a way for scammers to get your information to help find out your passwords. Here is what the police department had to say on their Facebook page:
We don't normally take the time to participate in these types of social media posts, but figured we would this one time so you could get to know us a little bit better...

These games may seem harmless but they are an easy way for someone to get pertinent information to get into your accounts or even steal your identity. According to Lifelock these criminals can get payday loans, open new accounts. They can even file a tax return in your name and get the refund you have been counting on. These identity thefts occur once every three seconds so you need to take all of the necessary precautions to keep thins from happening to you.
So what can you do to keep this from happening to you? First, make sure your social media is set to privets that way only your friends and close family can see all that you are posting. But more importantly, think twice before a new social media game comes around and make sure that it is not going to expose you to fraud.
