Remastered, expanded versions of Van Morrison‘s landmark 1970 album Moondance will be released on September 30.  The classic record will be available as a standard CD, a two-CD set and a deluxe edition boasting five discs.

The deluxe version, which will contain four CDs and a Blu-ray audio disc, will feature 50 previously unreleased tracks.  Among the rare recordings are multiple alternative takes of such memorable tunes as “Moondance,” “Caravan,” “Into the Mystic” and “Glad Tidings.”

Also included will be versions of “I Shall Sing,” an unreleased song that was recorded during the Moondance sessions; and an early take of “I’ve Been Working,” a tune that first appeared Morrison’s follow-up to Moondance, His Band and the Street Choir.  The aforementioned Blu-ray disc offers a 5.1 surround-sound audio version of Moondance. In addition, the deluxe package will offer a booklet with liner notes penned by music journalist Alan Light and Moondance engineer Elliot Scheiner.

The two-disc expanded edition, meanwhile, features a remastered CD of the original Moondance album plus an 11-track CD of highlights from the deluxe version’s other discs.
