The Texas High Tigers are on a roll as the high school baseball playoffs begin.

The Tigers won game one of the there best of three series with Lucas-Lovejoy by a score of 8-2. This after Texas High finished the regular season at 24-5 and 11-3 and the top position in their district.

Tiger Head Coach John McClure says,"Our defense and hitting have been a big part of our teams success so far this year. They really take pride in playing defense."

All aspects of the game are important come playoff time. Coach McClure says one of his teams strong points this year is their chemistry, saying, "I think our team chemistry has been outstanding. We have a very selfless bunch that does not care who gets the credit. They play hard for each other day in and day out."

McClure says Lucas-Lovejoy is very similar to to his Tigers. "They swing the bat really good, play good defense, but don't have a dominant pitcher."

Cameron Radney got the start and the win on the mound last night on the road. Walker Davis is scheduled to pitch game two.

McClure says Tiger fan support is important. He says, "It is always good for our guys to see a good following on the road. Hopefully we will have a big home crowd for Friday's home game at 7:00PM."

Game two will be at Tiger Field at Texas High. If the Tigers win they will move on to the next round of the playoffs. A Lucas-Lovejoy victory would send the series to a deciding third game which would be played at a neutral site in Rockwall at noon on Saturday.

Good Luck to the Texas High Tigers. This team is really performing well and apparently have developed into a very close knit group that is determined to reach their goals.

It starts at the top with the leadership brought to the team by excellent coaching and people skills from Coach John McClure, and his fine assistant coaching staff at Texas High. The players have responded in great fashion this year.
