Christopher Monroe, 44, of Little Rock, received a federal prison sentence of 17 and a half years for drug trafficking and gun-related crimes. U.S. District Judge Brian Miller issued the sentence Wednesday, following Monroe’s April guilty plea.

Your Bowie County Sheriff's Department sends us the list each week but here is a sobering thought, "you know who" is getting that list each week as well. The first full week of December brought us 55 arrests. Of which, Bowie County Deputies made 25 arrests, and the remaining 30 were made by other law enforcement agencies and turned over to Bowie County.

Is it the heat? Arrests increased quite a bit last week from the week before with 74 total arrests in Bowie County. Bowie County Deputies made 24 of those arrests, while other area law enforcement agencies brought in 50.
Week #2 of 2023 and Bowie County had more than its share of bad behavior last week. Let's start with 74 total arrests in Bowie County, Sheriff's Deputies arrested 23 of those while 51 were arrested by other area law enforcement agencies and turned over to the BCSO.
It was a scary week for your Bowie County Sheriff's Office and deputies as one of their own was seriously wounded Saturday night trying to apprehend a man who was wanted for murder. Lt Scott Lillis was shot through his left eye in that exchange and according to Bowie County Sheriff Jeff Neal, has lost the use of that eye but thank goodness he expected to make a full recovery and is in good spirits

We hope everyone had a safe and happy July 4th weekend. The week leading up to our nation's birthday was a little slower than what you usually see here, which is a good thing, but along with the usual assaults and such, there were a couple of items that stood out. Two child pornography possession cases and one Exploitation of the Elderly, both of which are completely intolerable in our opinion.

I don't know if it's the hot temperatures or just hot-headed people but there was at least one assault logged in Bowie County every day last week and some of those folks ended up in jail.
