Shooting Near Campus of a Texarkana Middle School [Update]

Update: The Pleasant Grove Middle School campus went into lockdown as of 2 PM today as a precautionary measure due to a shooting in a neighborhood near campus, according to school officials.

One teenager is dead and another teen remains in custody following a shooting that occurred around 1:45 PM this afternoon on Sydney Drive which is near the campus of  Pleasant Grove Middle School and nearby Moores Lane, according to Texarkana Texas Police. The victim was 17-years old and the suspect arrested is 18 years old. According to the TTPD Facebook page, the incident stemmed from an argument earlier in the day. Complete details there.

Pleasant Grove officials were notified by the Texarkana Texas Police Department that the suspect has been taken into custody and there was no additional threat to the area. Pleasant Grove Middle School was no longer on lockdown.
