It’s been an interesting relationship over the years filled with plenty of drama, but Sammy Hagar has moved past his time with Van Halen and says he’s not interested in reuniting with the veteran band.

Hagar sparked headlines a few years back by reaching out to Eddie Van Halen on his birthday through social media, and his fellow Van Halen alum Michael Anthony was rumored to potentially rejoin the band before the plug was pulled on tour talks. But Hagar has stated in the past that his motives to reconnect were of a more personal nature.

Speaking with Classic Rock, the former Van Halen singer stated, “I’m afraid if I ever reached out and really tried to contact Ed and Al, they would think that I was trying to get back in the band or I was trying to do a reunion, and I'm not.”

He added, “I am so content with The Circle – we play the Van Halen songs that I wrote with Ed as good as anybody, but I’m happy to have just five or six Van Halen songs in my set. It's almost like I don't want to be asked to do because I’d feel like I had to do it, but I don’t really want to. I'm sorry I don’t.”

Hagar, Anthony and their Circle bandmates are currently promoting the Space Between album. Catch them on tour here.
