The holiday season will be here before you know it and the Salvation Army is gearing up for two major events in the month of November.

The first event is coming up this Friday, November 6, at Central Mall for the celebration kickoff to their "Red Kettle and Angel Tree" campaigns. The event is scheduled to begin at 10AM with the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary placing Angels on a Christmas tree and Major Russell will speak regarding plans for this year’s “Help Rescue Christmas” campaign.

The Red Kettle Campaign has been a long-standing tradition for years and is the Salvation Army's oldest annual charitable fundraiser of its kind in the United States. Money raised goes to help provide local communities nationwide the funds to help purchase toys for kids, food, and coats for the homeless, and other social service programs.

Then on Thursday, November 12th the Salvation Army will be providing 200 needy families with food boxes and turkeys in celebration of Thanksgiving. This event will occur at The Salvation Army Family Store located at 420 Walton Drive from 10AM until 1PM. Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, this is going to be a drive-thru event only. Safety protocols will be in place and everyone must remain in their vehicle at all times.
