Soon the smell of hickory smoke, and some of the best bbq ribs in the Ark-La-Tex will fill the streets of downtown Texarkana with the Big Jake's BBQ Rib Cook-off, part of the 2012 RailFest scheduled for May 12.

Starting the day off, some of the best cooks in the area will be carefully guarding their secrets as they cook up what they hope will be bbq ribs good enough to win trophies, cash prizes, and the $1,000 grand prize.

There will be something for everyone, with free bounce-houses for the kids, vendors, arts & craft booths, some great food, and a beer garden.

The headliner on the main stage this year is country act Diamond Rio, who will take to the Coors Light stage at 8:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15, and are available now. Local act Copper Road will open for them at 7 p.m.

Railfest 2012 is made possible by the City of Texarkana AR, Metro PCS, Coors Light, Baskins, Red River Federal Credit Union, Moderne Primitives, Texas A&M, Hopkins Ice House, State Farm-Kelli Ashbrook, Windstream, and Townsquare Media.
